White Elephant: observatory on the top of the mountain
The largest wonder of the mountain of Pip Ivan is a highland observatory, ruins of which tower on the top. People call the observatory “White Elephant”. They say that in winter covered with snow and ice and blew with strong winds the outlines of observatory reminds figure of an elephant.

Trekking in the Ukrainian Carpathians includes both quite easy routes for beginners (mountain range Svydovets; maximal height is 1888 m) and more difficult for experienced travellers (mountain range Gorgany covered with large stones and maximal height that reaches 1836 m; multi-day tours on the Chornohora mountain range with maximal height of 2061 m). You should be aware that any of trekking tour can become more complicated under the influence of adverse weather conditions.
