White Elephant: observatory on the top of the mountain

The largest wonder of the mountain of Pip Ivan is a highland observatory, ruins of which tower on the top. People call the observatory “White Elephant”. They say that in winter covered with snow and ice and blew with strong winds the outlines of observatory reminds figure of an elephant.

Trekking in the Carpathians: To the land of mountain lakes

Trekking tour in the Ukrainian Carpathians within mountain massif of Svydovets lasts four days that is the best variant for beginners in mountain travelling. day 1

  • Tourclub guides meet the group at 10:35 at the railway station in Kvasy. How to get to the tour?
  • before we start moving along the trekking route Tourclub guide should allocate all general equipment and food among all participants of the tour; therefore, packing your backpack, provide enough room for general stuff (approx. 3.5 kg) and food (approx. 2 kg)
  • trekking route: Kvasy village – Brailka Mountain Meadow, 7 km
  • encamping

 day 2

  • it is planned to ascend Blyznyuky Mountain, the highest peak of the Svydovets mountain range, at this day; ancient hutsul legend says that twin brothers fell in love with one girl and wanted to find an edelweiss for her, but simultaneously fell down the cliff
  • trekking route: Brailka Mountain Meadow – Blyznyuky Mountain (1880 m) – Vorozheska Lake (1450 m over the sea level, 95 m in diameter, 0.7 hectares in area and 4.5 m in depth), 17 km
  • encamping

day 3

  • optionally, walk to Upper Hereshaska Lake and Apshenets Lake, 10 km
  • trekking route: Vorozheska Lake – Black Tysa River, 10 km
  • encamping

 day 4

  • trekking route: Black Tysa River - Yasynya Village, 16 km
  • ending the tour 1:34 p.m.
  • come back home from Yasinia
