Black Cheremosh river

Cheremosh River flows in western Ukraine nearby such regional centers of the Carpathians as Verkhovyna and Vyzhnytsia. The river basin is quite large, therefore Black Cheremosh has a stable water level and is very popular among water tourists not only in Ukraine but also in the CIS and the Baltic states.

It's hard to predict the best season for the rafting, cause in recent times it's quite difficult. But, as a rule, the highest level of water is observed from April to early May, when the snow melts from Chornogory and Grynyavy Mountains. Then the water gradually decreases and in the summer Cheremosh becomes interesting for the raft only on double kayaks.

Depending on the complexity of the Cheremosh rapids, there are 3 main rafting routes:
1) Berdi - Dzembronya with rapids of 2nd difficulty category;
2) Dzembronya - Krasnyk village with rapids of 3rd difficulty category;
3) Krasnyk - Vyzhnytsia with rapids of 2nd difficulty category.

In the first rafting route, the absence of significant rapids and drains makes this site ideal for a training rafting in front of the complex rapids that begin after the Topilche village.

The second section is a practically continuous chain of rapids of varying complexity. Dzembronya rapid is a series of small storms, which sometimes can form barrels. The next rapid - Old Man's Elbow looks like  right turn with the island in the middle of the river. After a short equal river speed the next rapid starts - White Kobyla. The river Bystrets falls to the left, and soon a long rapid of Huchok or Small Guk begins. After successfully overcoming the Small Guk rapid, it is necessary to rest and prepare for passing the most difficult rapid on the Black Cheremosh - Guk. The rapid is rather short, but with significant rainfall, which creates large barrels and high shafts. A few more storms and rollovers - and the village Krasnyk begins, where tourists traditionally land near the monument, in front of the bridge.

From Krasnyk to Verkhovyna and beyond Cheremosh flows through a picturesque densely populated valley. The river does not lose its mountain temper. Shortly thereafter, the White Cheremosh is joining the turbulent flow.

What is attractive in Cheremosh river? First of all, the unsurpassed beauty of the environment. Moreover, the diversity of both the river itself and the complex of water barriers characteristic of the mountain rivers up to the highest categories of complexity. The river will be filled with unexpected turns of the channel, rapids, water troughs, which for a moment will not allow to loosen attention during rafting. Cheremosh has two faces: mountain and foothill plains, so after the stormy adventures in its upper reaches you feel the joy of relaxing rest in the lower reaches.
