Cheremosh equipment list

Preparation for Black Cheremosh rafting tour takes less time and affords in summer and much more in spring. In summer atmosphere temperature as well as water in the Carpathians is quite pleasant, therefore, there is no need in taking a wetsuit. At favorable weather conditions in summer you can take part in rafting tour simply in bathing suit or shorts and T-shirt, life vest and helmet. Wetsuit in hot weather causes a lot of inconveniences (it’s too stuffy). In spring when water temperature in the Carpathians is +50C (slush goes down the mountains and fills the rivers) you could hardly do without a wetsuit.

So, rafting tour on the Cheremosh River includes water and camp part, correspondingly, you should prepare necessary clothing both for active  rafting and relaxing camping one.

What should you dress for rafting?

  • Wetsuit (can be rented; our wetsuits are sleeveless, though you should wear kagool along with a wetsuit; offered wetsuits gets wet but prevent water from getting out, so that the additional warm layer appears).
  • Waterproof suit (can be an alternative rafting clothing) made of rubberized material and repels water well. Consisting of a jacket and pants. In rainy cold weather you can combine wetsuit and waterproofing suit. Under the latter you can dress some sports pants and light sweater.
  • Neoprene socks will keep your legs warm (can be rented; offered neoprene socks are 5 mm thick).
  • Gloves will warm your hands. The optimal variant is to have neoprene ones. Anyway, you can use any available gloves.

What should you wear in camp?

In spring time air temperature in the Carpathians can decrease to subzero point. Go to bed at pleasant warm weather and stand up in the middle of a snowdrift is a common situation for spring rafting. Therefore, you must be ready for the cold weather as well as for snow or rain. But it is quite possible that sun will prevail and shorts and bucket hats become necessary. Some rafting tours include hiking in the mountains, so kagool, comfortable and wet proof shoes with non-slippery sole won’t be needless.

Let’s summarize:

  • things for warm and rainless weather: T-shirt, shorts, bucket hat, sandals;
  • things for cold weather: warm sweater, pants, parka, polo neck sweater, boots or trainers, hat
  • things for rainy weather: kagool + see as abow

Staying in the rafting camp “Tourclub” demands the following things:

  • sleeping bag, sleeping pad (can be rented)
  • personal eating set: plate, mug, spoon
  • flash light
  • personal hygiene set
  • others (do not forget about sun proofing cream)
